IMAM (Full-Time)

Masjid Al-Wali is seeking a qualified, spiritually grounded, and community-focused Imam to lead, educate, and support our diverse and growing Muslim community. The ideal candidate will embody strong Islamic character, demonstrate deep knowledge of Quran and Sunnah, and serve as a role model for all ages—especially our youth. The Imam must adhere to the Quran, Sunnah, and all current and future bylaws, policies, and administrative decisions of Masjid Al-Wali.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Religious Leadership

  • Lead the five daily prayers, Jumu’ah, and Eid prayers.
  • Deliver khutbahs that are relevant, inspiring, and rooted in authentic Islamic teachings.
  • Provide religious guidance aligned with mainstream Sunni scholarship.
  • Lead Taraweeh and Ramadan programs.
  • Officiate Nikah, Janazah, and other lifecycle events.
  • Serve as a role model who follows the Prophet ﷺ in character and conduct.

2. Education

  • Develop and deliver regular educational programs for adults, youth, and families.
  • Teach Seerah, Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, and general Islamic studies.
  • Support Al-Wali Academy with Quran and Islamic Studies curriculum and instruction.
  • Provide programs for new Muslims and individuals exploring Islam.
  • Create youth-focused halaqas, Q&A sessions, and interactive learning opportunities.

3. Youth Engagement & Mentorship

  • Serve as an accessible mentor and positive influence for youth.
  • Build programs that encourage youth participation in the masjid.
  • Address contemporary youth challenges through an Islamic lens.
  • Collaborate with youth committees to organize spiritual, social, and recreational activities.

4. Community Engagement

  • Provide family and marriage counseling, conflict mediation, and spiritual guidance.
  • Visit sick or elderly community members.
  • Maintain consistent and accessible office hours.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and spiritually uplifting environment.

5. Conflict Resolution

  • Act as a fair and confidential mediator for personal and community disputes.
  • Apply Quranic principles and Prophetic wisdom to resolve conflicts.
  • Promote unity and uphold a healthy Islamic environment.

6. Collaboration & Compliance

  • Work closely with the Masjid Trustees to implement programs and initiatives.
  • Follow all masjid bylaws, policies, and administrative decisions.
  • Participate in interfaith and community outreach efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The ideal candidate will be a U.S.-born and raised individual with formal Islamic training from a recognized institution (Alim degree or equivalent). Hifz-ul-Quran is strongly preferred.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, especially with youth and families.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Imam or religious leader in North America.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect with youth and address their spiritual and social needs.
